Introduce your year level to the transformation happening in the world of work with fun, hands-on, high-tech activities.
This program is best suited for entire year levels and is focused on collaboration and creativity whilst building digital skills across all learning areas.
We have three different Future of Work streams to choose from. Pick the one that best suits your cohort, or get in touch to discuss options.
All programs incorporate the elements of learning and teaching in the VTLM 2.0, promoting student agency and effective learning for all students.
Future of Communication

Podcasting for a Connected World
Creating, producing, and sharing impactful podcasts
Dive into the exciting world of podcasting! In this hands on program, secondary students will explore every step of creating a podcast from planning and scripting to recording, editing, and publishing.
Along the way, students will develop practical digital media skills, boost their creativity, and gain confidence as content creators, preparing them for future opportunities in communication and media.

Unreal Futures: Designing the Next Wave of Digital Worlds
Shaping immersive spaces with Unreal Engine
Step into the future of communication and creativity! In this program, you’ll dive into Unreal Engine to play, test, and develop your own 3D platformer game. Discover how industry-standard 3D software is used to bring games and media to life, and gain hands on experience just like real game developers.
Whether you’re a gamer, artist, or tech enthusiast, you’ll build skills that open doors to exciting careers in digital media and beyond. Ready to create the next big thing?
Future of Transport

Robotics: Airport Automation Challenge
Innovating smarter systems for transport
Discover how robotics and automation are transforming the way we communicate and move goods! In this hands-on program, you’ll design and build a LEGO® Spike Prime robot to solve a real world challenge automating baggage handling at Melbourne Airport.
You’ll learn to code a line-following robot that navigates a simulated airport environment, just like the systems used in modern logistics. Get ready to innovate, collaborate, and engineer the future of transport!

Battle Bots: Baggage Carousel Showdown
Designing robots to improve the travel carousel
In this exciting robotics challenge, students will design and build LEGO® Spike Prime battle bots and program Sphero robots to compete in a fast-paced baggage sorting arena. Each team must navigate, strategize, and deliver luggage to the correct baggage carousel using a combination of mechanical design and precision coding.
Sphero adds a twist acting as autonomous luggage or smart delivery agents that must be guided or intercepted. This program blends creativity, competition, and collaboration, giving students a hands-on experience in robotics, automation, and real-world problem solving.
Future of Health

Code Red: Immersive VR for Emergency Response Training
Preparing responders through virtual reality
Train like a paramedic in real-world scenarios with our cutting-edge Virtual Reality simulation program, designed to prepare students for real-world emergency scenarios. In this immersive learning experience, students will respond to lifelike incidents from roadside accidents to cardiac emergencies within a fully interactive 3D environment.
They'll assess patients, make critical decisions under pressure, administer treatments, and communicate with other emergency personnel, all while navigating dynamic and unpredictable situations.

Science of Sound: Perception, Music and the Mind
Exploring music, hearing, and the human mind
Discover how sound and music shape the way we think, feel, and make decisions! In this hands-on program, you’ll use microphones, a programmable soundboard, and a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) to design your own soundscapes.
Test your creations in blind experiments and explore how tempo, pitch, and timbre can change emotions and influence choices. Get ready to experiment, analyse, and unlock the power of sound in communication!
Future of Intelligence

Virtual Reality: Wind Turbine Repair Mission
Simulating renewable energy maintenance tasks
Take on the future of energy in our immersive VR adventure! As a field technician, you’ll enter a virtual wind turbine site, working hands-on to diagnose and repair real-world problems. You’ll need sharp communication skills to coordinate with the central tower, use digital manuals, and interpret live diagnostics—all while racing against the clock.
This program is your chance to apply your STEM knowledge in a high-tech, fast-paced environment where teamwork and quick thinking are key. Are you ready to power up your skills and take on the challenge?

AI & Drones for a Better World
Combining tech to solve global challenges
Students apply machine learning to real-world drone applications, training AI models to recognize environmental features and automate drone responses.
With input from Swoop Aero and Melbourne Water, students explore how AI and drone tech support sustainability, safety, and infrastructure monitoring.
